1.MyownunderstandingsandusesofCDA

CDAhashadconsiderableimpactnotonlyonhowdiscourseanalysisisunderstoodanddoneasasub-branchoflinguistics,butalsoondisciplinesthathaveparticipatedinthe‘discursiveturn’,andthathaveneededguidanceandlegitimationforfocusingontextualpractices.Notablehereare,amongothers,planningtheory,publichealth,organizationstudies,mediastudies,andaccounting.ParticularlythroughpublicationslikeDiscourseandSocialChangeandCriticalDiscourseAnalysis(Fairclough,1992,1995),CDAhasbeenabletoprovideareadilyapplicableapproachtotextanalysisbothforresearcherswhoareandforthosewhoarenotinitiatedintothespeci csoflinguistictheoryandanalysis.
