Differences between college life and high school life

Being a freshman for two months,I have gradually adapted myself to college life.Now I’d like to share my experience in differences between college life and high school life.

First of all,we are given more chances to budget our free time.We used to do so many exercises day and night when we were in high school that we couldn’t spare any free time to cultivate an interest.Normal classes,extra classes and homework were what we owned.On the contrary,we don’t have that tight curriculum at college.We can join any club we are interested in or run for student cadre in the Students’ Union.What’s more,we can look for a part-time job.In a word,we can do anything we are fond of.

Secondly,the core ideas of these two periods are poles apart.We were encouraged to develop our thoughts when in high school.No matter what lessons we took or what exercises we did,academic achievements were what we pursued.Nevertheless,we are required to have a deeper understanding of learning.Before answering this question,we must ask ourselves three questions:What do I want to do?Why do I want to do this?How can I realize it?So it has been enhanced to philosophic altitude.We shouldn’t focus on learning for the sake of learning.In contrast,we learn to do something more meaningful instead of tests.

Last but not least,we are more independent.In high school,we did what our parents asked us to do,whereas at college we must develop our own way to deal with all sorts of issues.Only in this way can we pave our way for the future.After all,parents can’t accompany us for the whole life,and we are bound to face obstacles that we must handle on our own.Whether one can be a success or a failure all depends on how much independent one can be.

To conclude,college life is quite different from high school life.Although it’s difficult to get used to,the experience we get is bound to be a precious treasure in our life.
