Oriental Pearl Area

Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today, I will bring you to appreciate the charm of Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

Before we arriving at our destination, please let me introduce Oriental Pearl Area briefly to all of you.

The Oriental Pearl Area is one parts of Pudong New district, it is located on the east of the Huangpu River, bordering on the East China Sea, it is a triangular Area covering 1210 square kilometers--one fifth that of Greater Shanghai with a population of 4.12 million, but back in 1980s the city proper of Shanghai referred largely to the western bank of the river. The opposite banks of the Huangpu River were connected mainly by ferryboats, so although Pudong was just across the river from the prosperous Bund and Nangjing Road, it remained countryside except for a narrow industrial strip along the river with wharves, warehouses, and a few factories, until on April 18th,1990, the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party and the State Council declared the opening and development of Pudong New Area, and 1993 the administration of Pudong New Area was created, Since then, Pudoong New Area has become an icon of Shanghai sweeping advance to a modern metropolis,

Today, it is the fastest-growing part of the city and home to a dazzling new financial district, it also has the cities most compelling skyline. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower--the futuristic concrete pole at 468 meters is the second tallest TV Tower in Asia and the fourth tallest in the world, following Guangzhou TV Tower, Toronto CN Tower, and Moscow Ostankino Tower. Shanghai World Financial Center, 492 meters high, is the third tallest building in the world, and the 420-meter Jinmao Tower, one of the most attractive skyscrapers in the world. All of them are wonderful places for a scenic view of Shanghais awesome real estate building boom.

I hope all of you will enjoy this trip to People’s Square. People’s Square welcomes you!
