elcome Message from the President

Welcome to Beijing University of Chemical Technology!

Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) is affili-

ated to the Ministry of Education. As one of China’s key institutions

of higher learning, BUCT has developed from an institution of tech-

nological specialties to a comprehensive university. Engineering has

been retained as a core discipline with the addition of the fields of

science, arts, law, management and economics creating a compre-

hensive offering.

In carrying out the government’s strategy of reviving China

through science and education, and by fully exerting its academic

strengths, BUCT is striving to become a multidisciplinary research

university while retaining the merits of our original foundations. Our goal is to be one of the leadinginstitutions in China, as well as an influential worldwide university.

I am privileged and honored to be leading BUCT into the 21st century. We are advancing our

tradition of excellence in education through high quality programs in teaching, research, and serviceto society. As we keep our eye on the future, we are successfully responding to the new challenges ofa global, interdependent, multicultural, and technologically advanced society.

Our primary aim is to provide the best educational experience for our students. Our campus is

changing in many ways to meet the educational needs of the 21st century. Highly qualified academicsare recruited to become part of the BUCT family; they enhance its intellectual vitality and innovativespirit. New interdisciplinary fields have been established to cover developments in science and tech-nology. Construction of new buildings for research and teaching is well under way.
