Both the reading and the listening explore the topic of the reason why the transformation from the cottage industry to the factory industry. In the reading passage, the author claims that the phinomenon due to the tremendous change in the advanced technology, a more powerful law and the cost of production, but the lecture thinks oppositely.

In the first place, the writer points out that the transitions beacuse of the advanced technology. This idea, however, is refuted by the professor, who says that the technology was not the reason leading the cottage industry to the factory industry. According to the lecture, at the early period, people employed more worker rather than used more machines.And actually the practical machines had been appeared.

Secondly, the reading states that the stronger legal protection caused the change. Contrary to this statement , the listening contends that the better legal protection was heplless for the transformation. Furthermore, other place were built up the law where the cottage didnot disappeared.

Finally, the advocated theory in the reading material is that the purpose of the patten change that people wanted to save the cost. In the response to this ,the listening paasge holds the opinion that the factory industry would not decrease generative cost. In other words, factory industry spent more money like buying factory land, setting up the build and purchasing the manhines.
