一．定语从句：限制性定语从句和非限制性定语从句。

1. 限制性定语从句：是先行词在意义上不可缺少的定语，如果去掉，主句意思就不完整或

者完全失去意义,不用逗号隔开。关系代词做宾语可以省略但是有介词在前则不能省略。只修饰先行词。

Eg:Do you know the girl who just came in?

Shanghai is a city (that/which) I’ve always wanted to visit.

Her sister married a man (who/whom/that) she met on a plane.

The time when I first met Mr.White was a very difficult period of my life.

2. 非限制性定语从句：只是对先行词作附加补充说明，如果去掉，主句的意思依然清楚完

整，与句子关系不密切，书写用逗号隔开。不用that,关系代词即使是做宾语也不可省略同样关系副词也不省略。可以修饰先行词也可以修饰句子或者句子的一部分。由which或者as引导。

Whom做宾语的时候不能用that替代。

Eg :The old woman,who lives on her own,has a cat for company.

Mary is going to marry Mark,whom she does not love.

Beijing,which is the capital of China,is a very beautiful city.

He didn’t tell me any news,as/which upset me

He is honest,as/which we can see.
