Xuanwu in my heart

It seems to me that every second during the stay at Nanjing is like the sands of time running out and revealing secret by secret of its people, its culture, its language and its tradition. It is five years since I came to Nanjing with a curiosity in my mind and desire in my soul to acknowledge whatever I could about this city. The first time I arrived at Nanjing, I was struck by the restlessness and disorder of the people rushing in and out, carrying packs of luggage and scrambling for a bus or taxi. But now my view has changed greatly, especially about the Xuanwu District. Five years is not a long time, nor a short time for me to open my eyes and visualize what this beautiful district looks like.

Xuanwu District is one of the major and most prosperous parts of Nanjing, which is the capital of Jiangsu province, and one of the central cities in Yangtze River Delta with 2400 years long history and rich culture. There locates the famous Scenic Belt of Xuanwu Lake and Zhongshan Park, with mountains, water, urban, forests in a unique style. Xuanwu Lake is in the central-northeast part of Nanjing, it nears Nanjing Railway Station and Ji Ming Temple. It is surrounded by three mountains in three directions: the Zijing mountain to the east, the Jizhao mountain and Fuzhou mountain to the south and the Mufu mountain to the north. The Ming city wall borders the park to its south and east. The lake covers 472 hectares. Xuanwu Lake is one of Nanjing Zhongshan state-level scenic spots and an important tourist attraction. It is the largest comprehensive park in Nanjing with the function of entertainment, leisure and exercise. So beautiful it is, Xuanwu Lake can be compared with Xihu Lake. Xuanwu Lake contains five oasises, namely Huan zhou, Ying zhou, Liang zhou, Cui zhou and Ling zhou, which originates from the Wu, Eastern Jin and Southern Song, Qi, Liang and Chen Dynasties. There’re altogether 72 tourist attractions in Xuanwu District, such as the Forbidden City of the early Ming Dynasty, the first Ming emperor’s Mausoleum, Sun Yat-sen’s presidential palace, and so on. I really appreciate the charms of those natural attractions.
